Alongside the five event options (30km MTB, 50km MTB, 42.2km Marathon, 21.1km Half Marathon and 10km run/walk) we are working on some plans to create an even bigger, better, cooler post event atmosphere at the stunning and scenic Home Bay, on Motutapu.
So it really will be the complete day out at the best event in the country!

Rangitoto & Motutapu islands are now officially pest-free!
On Saturday 27 August the Minister of Conservation, Kate Wilkinson declared the two islands "officially" pest-free at an event held at Home Bay. The event marked the successful conclusion of DOC's huge eradication project that started in June 2009.
Seven species were targeted - ship and Norway rats, mice, stoats, hedgehogs, rabbits and feral cats. This was the biggest and most complex eradication project ever carried out by the Department and the islands are now everyone's to enjoy even more than before.
Already the numbers of tui, tomtits and quail has increased rapidly. Kakariki, bellbird and brown teal (pateke) have found their own way to this new, large pest-free paradise. And to celebrate the official declaration, saddleback (tieke) and takahe were set free in Home Bay, home of the DUAL event.
Plans are afoot for kiwi, shore plover and a number of key species which don't do so well in the presence of pest animals. So get set to start seeing the results of the hard work and ensure you do your bit to help keep these, and other islands in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park pest-free.
